I favour this old time popular medium for portrait because of its uncomparable elegant and flattering rendering.

It is the simplest medium ever, just a  few burned little piece of wood, the same medium used by caveman some 30 000 years ago. I am always amazed at the marvels that can be done with these mere little charcoal sticks....coupled with some savoir-faire of course!

These charcoal drawings are done on acid-free, 100% cotton, age resistant laid-finish charcoal paper, 100g/m2 (45Ibs).  The grain  of the paper can be more or less rough according to your preference.

I spray all charcoal work with UV absorbing fixative for protection.

These charcoal drawings require only a 3 hours sitting session that can be done at my San Francisco studio or even at your place for more convenience (Bay area zone only).

We discuss and chose the pose together and after the work session you can even leave with your drawing right away.
